Something called you here.

Maybe it was a sound you heard once and never forgot. Maybe it's a drum sitting in the corner of a room, waiting. Maybe you can't explain it at all — you just know there's a door, and it's time to walk through it.

The Path of the Shamanic Drum is a six-week live journey into rhythm, ceremony and the oldest instrument human beings have ever made.

You'll learn where the Shamanic Drum comes from, how to awaken and care for your own; or simply receive one played for you; and how a steady beat can carry you into trance, healing and connection with Spirit.

No drum. No experience.

No perfect technique required. Just a willingness to answer the call.

The Path of The Shamanic Drum

Step Into the Circle

WHO THIS PATH IS FOR?

This path is for you if:

  • You feel pulled toward the drum and don't fully know why.

  • You already have a drum but want a real relationship with it, not just an object on a shelf.

  • You're a meditator, healer or seeker looking for a grounded, respectful way into shamanic practice.

  • You're ready for six weeks of live ceremony, guided meditation and honest teaching; not a pre-recorded course you'll never finish.

HOW EACH WEEK WORKS

Every class runs 90 minutes, live on Zoom:

  • The first 60 minutes is teaching, story and hands-on Ceremony together as a circle.

  • The last 30 minutes is a full guided meditation with the drum, to let the week's teaching land in your body.

  • A workbook lands in your inbox after every class; everything covered is written out in full, so your only job in class is to be present.

WHAT YOU'LL EXPERIENCE

Step Into the Circle

  • Week One — The Call of the Drum. The origins of the shamanic drum, why it sits at the heart of Ceremony, and setting your intention for the six weeks ahead.

  • Week Two — The Spirit of the Drum. Meeting the drum; or the body drum; as a living companion: awakening it, caring for it and creating sacred space at home.

  • Week Three — Rhythm and Journeying. Core drumming patterns, entering a trance state and a guided journey into the Heartlands.

  • Week Four — The Four Directions. Working with the directions in Ceremony, grounding and protection and building your own simple Ceremony.

  • Week Five — Sound Healing and Energy. How vibration moves through the body, using the drum for self-healing, and reading energy with growing sensitivity.

  • Week Six — Walking the Path. Trusting your intuition, creating your own Ceremonies and closing the circle together.

NO DRUM? NO PROBLEM

You do not need to own a drum to do this course. Every practice works three ways: play your own drum, use the "body drum" — a hand resting gently on your own chest, genuinely the oldest drum there is; or simply receive: lie back and let Mark's drum carry you. However you arrive, there's a way in.

MEET MARK WELLARD

Mark's path to the drum didn't start around a fire, it started behind a mixing desk.

Years spent engineering sound taught him how it's built; the years since have taught him how it heals.

Today Mark is the founder of Shamanic Drums and is a Shamanic Drum Builder, Ceremonial Sound Healer and Shamanic Practitioner.

Every drum he makes spends months in Ceremony before it ever reaches its caretaker, the same patience he brings to teaching.

His belief is simple: the medicine is in the vibration. This course is the path he wishes someone had shown him when he first felt the pull of the drum.

FAQ

Q: Do I need to already own a drum?
A: No. You can use your own drum, the body drum, or simply receive, see "No Drum? No Problem" above. If you do bring your own, it should be a Shamanic (frame) Drum; a hide stretched over a hoop — rather than a musical drum like a djembe, bongo or drum kit, since the techniques we work with come from that specific drum.

Q: What if I miss a class?
A: You're not left behind. A full workbook lands in your inbox after every session; everything taught that night, written out in full: the teaching, the ceremonies, the journal prompts, and your practice for the week. You'll still walk the path with the rest of the circle; you'll just meet that week on the page instead of live. If you know ahead of time you'll miss one, drop Mark a note so he can check in with you directly.

Q: Is this a drum making workshop?

A: No — these courses are about the practice itself, not craft. We focus on the inner work of shamanism: journeying, connecting with spirit and personal transformation. If you already have a Shamanic Drum you love, you're very welcome to bring it along.

Q: Is this course religious, or does it require a particular belief system?
A: No. The course draws on ceremonial and shamanic traditions with respect, but you don't need any particular belief to take part; just curiosity and openness.

Q: What happens after the six weeks?
A: Graduates often continue into deeper practice; sound healing, an advanced journeying circle, or simply keeping the drum as a daily companion. What's next is shared inside the course.

Q: What's your cancellation or refund policy?
A: We don't offer refunds once you've enrolled; this path asks for real commitment, both to yourself and to the circle you'll walk it with. If a genuine emergency means you can't continue, let Mark know and he'll move your place to the next available circle, once. If you're feeling unsure before we begin, that's worth listening to; better to wait for the pull to be clear than to start half in.

Six weeks. One drum... or none at all.
A path back to rhythm, connection and your own inner knowing.
